Morusinol is a prenylated flavonoid that has potent antitumor activity. It is a selective inhibitor of the glucocorticoid receptor and has been shown to have strong inhibitory activity against human liver cancer cells. Morusinol inhibits the cycle analysis of mulberrofuran in rat liver, which may be related to its potent inhibitory activity against human liver cancer cells. Morusinol has also been shown to have potent inhibitory effects on autophagy and is used in Chinese medicine preparations for treatment of tumors and inflammation.
