3-Nitrobenzeneboronic acid is an organic compound. It is a boronic acid that has been used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and dyes. The biological properties of this compound are not well understood, but it has been shown to be an inhibitor of prostate cancer cells. The enzyme inhibition may be due to its hydroxyl group and extractant properties. 3-Nitrobenzeneboronic acid has also been shown to have antimicrobial activity against bacteria and fungi, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The toxicity studies have not found any adverse effects on the liver or kidney at doses up to 2000 mg/kg in rats. 3-Nitrobenzeneboronic acid can react with iodide ions to form 3-nitropyridineboronate salts, which are useful for glycosidic bond formation reactions in organic synthesis. This chemical also reacts with
