Descrizione

Np(4-N-pentylphenyl)benzoicacid is a hydrophobic molecule with an effective refractive index of 1.48 and an optical rotation of +33.5° (c=1, methanol). The spectrum of the compound shows bands at 220 nm and 260 nm. Np(4-N-pentylphenyl)benzoicacid is used as a substrate for penicillinase in order to measure the enzyme's activity. The compound is also used as a sensor for detecting penicillinase in solution by monitoring the shift in wavelength when it reacts with the enzyme. This molecule has been shown to be sensitive to enzymatic reactions, with a detection limit around 100 nM.
