Naphtho[1,2-d][1,3]thiazol-2-amine is a membrane hyperpolarizing drug that has been shown to dilate the bladder. It also binds to calcium ions and modulates the activity of various ion channels. The concentrations of this drug required for these effects are different in different tissues.
Naphtho[1,2-d][1,3]thiazol-2-amine increases blood pressure by acting on the carotid artery and it has been shown to reduce the contractility of the heart muscle cells by binding to a site on their phosphodiesterase enzyme called a pharmacophore. This drug also interacts with hydrogen bonds, which are found in proteins such as hemoglobin and myoglobin.
