Descrizione

2-Oxo-4-phenylpyrrolidine-3-carboxylic acid is a tachykinin analog that activates the neurokinin 1 receptor. It has affinity for the polymorphic form of the receptor, which can be activated by compounds that have a similar structure to 2-oxo-4-phenylpyrrolidine-3-carboxylic acid. The affinity of 2-oxo-4-phenylpyrrolidine 3 carboxylic acid for the receptor is not influenced by plasma concentrations, but it's activation mechanism is not yet known. This drug has shown potential as a vanilloid receptor ligand and has been used in functional assays to study its effects on smooth muscle contraction. 2OXPPCA has also been studied as an intraperitoneal injection in rats.
