8-oxa-3-azabicyclo[3.2.1]octane (8-OxaBOD) is a ligand that has been shown to bind to the primary amino group of proteins, such as pi3k/mtor pathway proteins and protein kinases, which are involved in cellular growth and proliferation. 8-OxaBOD has been shown to inhibit tumor growth by blocking cellular proliferation. It also inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines, such as Interleukin-6, Tumor Necrosis Factor alpha and Interferon gamma, which may be due to its ability to inhibit protein synthesis in cells. 8-OxaBOD is a low energy ligand that binds to conformational epitopes on the surface of proteins by pi stacking interactions with aromatic rings or pi electron delocalization. These interactions are stronger than those formed by other ligands with secondary amino groups, such as morpholines or acetonitrile derivatives
