3-O-Octadecyl-2-O-methyl-sn-glycerol is a molecule that has been shown to have apoptotic effects on HL60 human cells. It is also a synthetic compound that functions as an anti-viral agent. 3-O-Octadecyl-2-O-methyl-sn glycerol has been shown to be a factor receptor for uptake in HL60 cells and can inhibit the growth of cancer cells by inducing apoptosis. This molecule was originally synthesized with the intention of highlighting unsaturated alkyl groups.
