n-Octyltrimethylammonium chloride is a hydrophobic ionic compound that is used as a surfactant. It is a strong cationic surfactant that has been shown to be effective in the removal of contaminants from water and wastewater. n-Octyltrimethylammonium chloride is often used in oil and gas production, where it can be found in drilling fluids, fracturing fluids, and completion fluids.
