It is an organic solvent that exhibits high affinity for anions and cyclic voltammetry. The solubility of 1H,1H,5H-perfluoropentyl-1,1,2,2-tetrafluoroethylether in ethylene has been studied using microscopy and it has been found to be less than that of tetrahydrofuran. 1H,1H,5H-perfluoropentyl-1,1,2,2-tetrafluoroethylether can also be used as a rechargeable battery electrolyte due to its low carbonic acid content and high stability.
