1-Piperidin-1-ylacetone is an organic compound that belongs to the group of piperidines. It is a colorless liquid with a boiling point of 40°C and a molecular weight of 114.07 g/mol. The compound has been used as a solvent for organic reactions, such as enamine reactions. It can also be used as a catalyst in hydrogen sulfate synthesis and in the synthesis of fatty acids and sulfates. 1-Piperidin-1-ylacetone is soluble in solvents such as benzene, ether, chloroform, and carbon tetrachloride.br>br>
It has been shown to have an anion (a negatively charged ion) which can be either hydrogen sulfate or hydrogensulfate. It can also react with piperidine to form the piperidide anion.
