Piperonyl chloride is a chemical compound that belongs to the family of piperonyl chlorides. It is an inhibitor of melanogenesis, which is the process by which skin pigment cells produce melanin. In addition, it also inhibits or reverses the oxidation of dopamine and other catecholamines, as well as the activity of several enzymes, such as hepg2 cell. Piperonyl chloride can be applied in pharmaceutical preparations to modify or suppress matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), which are enzymes that break down connective tissue and promote inflammation. This drug has been used for the treatment of chronic ulcers in clinical trials, with some success.
