Informazioni sul prodotto
- 2-Pyridinecarboxylic Acid, 5-Phenyl-
5-Phenylpicolinic acid is a synthetic molecule that is an intermediate in the synthesis of 5-phenylpyridine derivatives. The reaction is typically performed by heating with an acidified solution of potassium phenoxide and a base, or using an acid chloride as the starting material. The yields are high and solvents include acetonitrile, chloroform, ethyl acetate, ether, hexane, methanol, nitromethane and tetrahydrofuran. The product can be purified by recrystallization or column chromatography. This compound has been shown to be cytotoxic against human melanoma cells in vitro. It also has a nature of being annulated with bipyridines to form porphyrins and naphthalenes to form phthalocyanines.
