5H-Pyridazino[3,4-b][1,4]benzoxazine is an antimicrobial agent that belongs to the class of organic solvents. It has a second-order rate constant of 0.00394/sec in water and is used as an alternative to benzalkonium chloride for disinfection of medical devices. The safety profile of 5H-Pyridazino[3,4-b][1,4]benzoxazine has been studied and found to be safe with no adverse effects on the immune system. This agent has shown antiviral activity against herpes simplex virus (HSV) type 2 and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). 5H-Pyridazino[3,4-b][1,4]benzoxazine also exhibits antibacterial properties against gram positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pneumoniae.
