Potassium bis(trimethylsilyl)amide is a nucleophilic reagent that can be used in the asymmetric synthesis of organic compounds. It reacts with an aryl chloride to give an amide after nucleophilic attack. Potassium bis(trimethylsilyl)amide can also be used for the synthesis of β-unsaturated ketones and aryl halides and has been shown to react with amines and alcohols. The crystallography of this compound has shown a tetranuclear structure with four trimethylsilylethyl groups at each corner.
