Potassiummethyldithiocarbamate is a fumigant that belongs to the group of bicyclic heterocycles. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties by inhibiting the production of IL-10, which is an inflammatory cytokine. The toxicity of potassiummethyldithiocarbamate has been studied in vitro on K562 cells and found to be less toxic than other fumigants such as chloropicrin and dazomet. This drug also inhibits mitochondrial membrane potential and increases the redox potential, making it useful for treating autoimmune diseases.
