Descrizione

Polyvinyl alcohol is a polymer that is synthesized by the polycondensation of vinyl acetate and hydrochloric acid. Polyvinyl alcohol has been shown to be effective in treating bowel diseases, such as inflammatory bowel disease, due to its ability to bind to sodium citrate and methyl ethyl. Polyvinyl alcohol also has intramolecular hydrogen bonding, which allows for the formation of hydrogen bonds between polyvinyl alcohol molecules. The intermolecular hydrogen bonding of polyvinyl alcohol is stronger than the intramolecular type because it involves two separate molecules. Polyvinyl alcohol can be used as a thickener or stabilizer in foods, such as ice cream, salad dressing, and sauces. It can also be used in pharmaceuticals as a coating for tablets or capsules. As an antimicrobial agent, polyvinyl alcohol has been shown to have inhibitory effects on enzymes that are involved with bacterial growth (e.g., aminopeptidase).
