- Pyridine-2-carboxylic acid N-oxide
Picolinic acid N-oxide is a photophysical compound that has been shown to have a reaction mechanism that is intramolecular, involving hydrogen. It is the n-oxide of picolinic acid and can be made by reacting sodium carbonate with ancillary trifluoroacetic acid. The protonated form of this compound is known as picolinic acid. Picolinic acid N-oxide has been shown to bind to metal ions through coordination geometry and hydrogen bonds, which may be important for its biological functions. This organic compound also has a carboxylate group at one end, which may contribute to its binding properties.
