Propiomazine is a drug that is used to treat bowel disease. It also has been used in the diagnosis of blood sampling and antibody response, as well as inflammatory bowel disease. Propiomazine may have a number of side effects, including drug interactions and serum prolactin levels. The drug can also cause infectious diseases or autoimmune diseases if it is given intravenously. This medication has been shown to be safe for use in hospitalised patients with 5-ht2 receptors, but it should not be used by those with sodium citrate deficiency or α1-acid glycoprotein deficiency. A method for analytical determination of propiomazine in human serum has been published in the journal Analytical Biochemistry (1973).
