4-Phenylaminobenzenediazonium hydrogensulfate is an inhibitor of tyrosinase activity. It is used to coat surfaces for the prevention of enzymatic reactions, such as the oxidation of carbohydrates and proteins. 4-Phenylaminobenzenediazonium hydrogensulfate is also used in biochemical assays, surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy, and phosphatase inhibition assays. The IC50 value for 4-phenyaminobenzenediazonium hydrogensulfate on tyrosinase is 0.4 mM. It has been shown that this compound can inhibit the enzymatic reaction by binding to the active site on the enzyme with a higher affinity than p-nitrophenyl phosphate (Ki = 0.2 mM).
