1-(Phenylsulfonyl)-1H-indol-3-ylboronic acid is a potent inhibitor of tumor cell proliferation. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro, but it does not affect the growth of noncancerous cells. This drug also has pharmacokinetic properties that make it suitable for oral administration and has been shown to cross the blood-brain barrier. 1-(Phenylsulfonyl)-1H-indol-3-ylboronic acid inhibits cancer cells by inhibiting protein kinase activity, which is required for tumor cell proliferation. In addition, this compound inhibits chloride transport, which may lead to an inhibition of tumor growth.
