Pararosaniline acetate is a reactive particle with a high resistance. It is used in the treatment of wastewater to remove nitrogen and phosphorus. Pararosaniline acetate reacts with hydroxyl groups in activated sludge to form an ester, which removes the phosphate ion from the water and produces low-molecular weight fatty acids. The process optimization of this reaction was studied by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The optimum pH for this process is 7-8, while the hydroxyapatite surface had no effect on this reaction. Radiation may be used to increase the rate of this reaction, but it will also increase the cost of production.
