Isoxazole is a heterocyclic aromatic compound that has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of inflammatory pain. This drug binds to anions on the surface of neurons and inhibits inflammation, preventing chronic pain. 5-Phenylisoxazole is also able to catalyze oriented polymerization reactions, which may have therapeutic implications for neurodegenerative diseases.
