3-(2-Pyridyl)acrylic acid is a biomolecular that has been shown to have anticancer activity in vitro. It is a cis-fused pyridylcarboxylic acid, which can be synthesized in two steps from 3-aminopyridine and acrylic acid. This compound has been studied for its anticancer properties and used as a fluorescent probe. It also has been used as a monoclonal antibody targeting the tumor microenvironment. 3-(2-Pyridyl)acrylic acid has shown antitumor activity against both solid tumors and carcinomas in vivo, with a radical mechanism of action, leading to apoptosis or necrosis of cancer cells.
