Descrizione:Polyethylene is a thermoplastic polymer that is most commonly used in the manufacture of plastic bags, films and packaging. Polyethylene is also used as a material for clothing and other fabrics. Polyethylene is composed of long chains of molecules grouped together to form a large molecule. The chains are made up of repeating units called ethylene monomers. These ethylene monomers are hydrogen bonded to each other by intermolecular hydrogen bonding interactions. The polyethylene chains are oriented in such a way that they form an irregular three-dimensional network with spaces between them. This network provides storage space for water vapor, which can be released when needed. The rate constant (k) for the hydrolysis reaction depends on the concentration of water vapor in the air, because it determines how much water will be released at any given time.
