1,3-Propanediol di-tosylate is a supramolecular structure that is formed by the specific interaction of two molecules. The interactions between the nitrogen atoms on each molecule allow for the formation of hydrogen bonds and hydrophobic interactions. This structure has been shown to have luminescent properties in animals. It has also been shown to have synergistic effects with other drugs when used in conjunction with acetonitrile as a reaction vessel, specifically for neurodegenerative diseases. 1,3-Propanediol di-tosylate may be an analog for tetrabenazine, a drug used to treat Parkinson's disease and Huntington's disease.
