Perillartine is a high-purity steviol glycoside that has been synthesized by the condensation of a fatty acid, isovaleric acid, and p-hydroxybenzoic acid. It has antimicrobial activity against bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. Perillartine also has anti-inflammatory effects on the skin and can be used to treat skin conditions such as seborrheic dermatitis or dandruff. The effective dose of perillartine in humans is not known, but it has been shown to be safe at doses up to 2 grams per day.
