Picfeltarraenin IA is a natural product that has been shown to suppress tumor growth by inhibiting the activity of Toll-like receptor (TLR) and suppressing tumor necrosis factor-α production. This compound also inhibits the proliferation of cervical cancer cells in culture, which may be due to its ability to decrease the levels of epidermal growth factor and colony-stimulating factor. Picfeltarraenin IA also inhibits the growth of thp-1 cells through an unknown mechanism, but it has not been shown to have any effect on cell cultures from other species.
