2-Propenoic Acid, 2,2,3,3-Tetrafluoropropyl Ester is a synthetic polymer that can be used to produce optical materials. It is a liquid at room temperature and has good solubility in organic solvents. The polymer can be used as a matrix for photopolymerization with an optical fiber as the light source. This polymer also absorbs water and has good colloidal stability in aqueous solutions. The process of engulfing and coagulation can be accelerated by adding a surfactant such as butyl acrylate or methacrylamidopropyl trimethoxysilane. 2-Propenoic Acid, 2,2,3,3-Tetrafluoropropyl Ester has been shown to enhance the rate of photopolymerization when combined with matrix polymers such as acrylic acid or methacrylic acid.
