Quinoline-8-carbaldehyde (QCA) is a pharmaceutical drug that inhibits the growth of human tumor cells in culture. QCA is a fluorescent probe that binds to copper ions, forming a copper complex. This compound has been shown to have significant cytotoxicity against liver cells and synchronous fluorescence in living cells. QCA also has biological properties that are similar to epidermal growth factor, which may be due to its ability to activate tyrosine kinase receptors. The mechanism studies for this drug have been conducted using hydrochloric acid and showed that it inhibits the expression of EGF-R mRNA.
