Rubidium nitrate is an inorganic compound that is a salt of rubidium and nitric acid. It has been used as an analytical reagent and as a precursor to other compounds, such as molybdenum. Rubidium nitrate is soluble in water and glycerin. It may be purified by heating it with hydrochloric acid (HCl) to form the rubidium chloride (RbCl) and water (H2O). The melting point of this substance is at about 34 °C, which is below the boiling point of water. Rubidium nitrate can be analyzed using laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (LA-ICPMS) or nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR).
