Descrizione

Spiro[chromene-2,4'-piperidin]-4-(3H)-one is a potent cytotoxic agent that inhibits the growth of human colorectal adenocarcinoma cells in vitro and in vivo. This compound has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of breast cancer cells with low micromolar potency. The mechanism of action of spiro[chromene-2,4'-piperidin]-4-(3H)-one is not yet known but may involve inhibition of carbohydrate metabolism. This drug was found to be selective for cancer cells and showed no significant toxicity against normal cells in vivo. Spiro[chromene-2,4'-piperidin]-4-(3H)-one has also been shown to be active against human breast carcinoma cell lines MCF-7 and MDA-MB231 at nanomolar concentrations.
