Sennoside F is a chemical compound that has been used as an ingredient in medicines. It has been shown to inhibit cancer cell growth, and is a potential treatment for skin conditions such as psoriasis. Sennoside F can be extracted from the rootstock of the senna plant or from other plants with similar flavonoids. The extract is typically collected by boiling the roots and then evaporating the water to leave behind a brownish-black residue. This residue contains various organic acids, vitamins and laxatives, including sennosides A-F.
Sennosides are also found naturally in many plants, where they act as anti-inflammatory agents and help regulate bowel movements.
