3-[(3-Trifluoromethyl)Phenyl]-5-[(4-Carboxyphenyl)Methylene]-2-Thioxo-4-Thiazolidinone is a model system that can be used to study the role of Toll-like receptor (TLR) in the development of fibrosis. This drug inhibits cyclase activity, which prevents the production of prostaglandins and leukotrienes from arachidonic acid. 3-[(3-Trifluoromethyl)Phenyl]-5-[(4-Carboxyphenyl)Methylene]-2-Thioxo-4-Thiazolidinone has also been shown to inhibit bowel disease and inflammation in experimental models. The mechanism by which this drug exerts its effects may involve inhibition of mitochondrial membrane potential and inhibition binding to various pharmacological agents.
