- Trifluoroaniline2
2,3,5-Trifluoroaniline is an anhydrous gas that has been experimentally synthesized in the laboratory. It can be made by reacting 2-chloroaniline with hydrogen fluoride and chlorine. The synthesis of this compound requires high temperatures and a lot of energy. This reaction produces two isomers: 3-trifluoroaniline and 5-trifluoroaniline. Computational studies on these isomers show that the theoretical energies are not too different from experimental values. The electron affinity (EA) for 2,3,5-trifluoroaniline is -0.17 eV, which is higher than the EA for 2-fluoroaniline (-0.06 eV). The EA for 3-fluoroaniline (-0.08 eV) is lower than the EA for 2-fluoroaniline but still higher than that of 5-fluoroanil
