2,3,5,6-Tetrafluoro-1,4-benzenedimethanol is a hydrogen chloride that is used in coatings and as a reactant in the production of other chemicals. It has low detection limits and can be found in wastewater, reaction products, and formamide. The gas reacts with an inorganic base to produce hexafluorobenzene and hydrogen gas. Hexafluorobenzene can then react with ammonia to produce hexachloroethane. 2,3,5,6-Tetrafluoro-1,4-benzenedimethanol can also react with formamide to produce hexafluorotoluene. This chemical has a high detection limit and can be found in urine samples as well as being used as a reagent for qualitative analysis of chloride gas in acidified water samples.
