2,4,6-Trimethylbenzene-1,3-diamine is a chemical compound that is used in the manufacture of cellulose acetate. It has been shown to be stable and not reactive at moderate temperatures. The compound has been analyzed using electrochemical studies and found to be an isomeric mixture of two compounds with different reactivities. 2,4,6-Trimethylbenzene-1,3-diamine can be used for the production of copolymers that have desired properties such as selectivity or optical properties. 2,4,6-Trimethylbenzene-1,3-diamine is produced by oxidative carbonylation of 3-amino-4-methylbenzoic acid. The functional groups on nitrogen atoms are responsible for its stability and chemical inertness.
