4,4,5,5-Tetramethyl-2-(p-tolyl)-1,3,2-dioxaborolane is a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon that has been modified with azobenzene groups. The modification of 4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-2-(p-tolyl)-1,3,2-dioxaborolane with azobenzene groups makes it reactive and functional as an alkylating agent. Azobenzene moieties can be used to create a variety of modifications in biomolecules such as proteins and nucleic acids. 4,4,5,5-Tetramethyl-2-(p-tolyl)-1,3,2-dioxaborolane has been shown to have the ability to inhibit the growth of chronic lymphocytic leukemia cells.
