Descrizione

Tetrenolin is a synthetic antibiotic that has been shown to be active against various plant pathogenic fungi, including phytophthora and micropolyspora. Tetrenolin also exhibits antibacterial properties against gram-positive bacteria such as Cladosporium cucumerinum. Tetrenolin has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, which prevents bacterial cell growth. Tetrenolin has demonstrated in vitro activity against a variety of strains, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The molecule is synthesized from two isomers of carbon sources, namely 2-keto-3-deoxygluconate and 3-keto-2-deoxygluconate.
