Descrizione

Tetradecyl lactate is a fatty acid that is used as an excipient in the production of pharmaceutical preparations. It has been shown to have antimicrobial properties, which are likely due to its ability to inactivate enzymes such as metalloproteases and other enzymes involved in bacterial cell wall synthesis. Tetradecyl lactate has also been shown to be effective for the treatment of infectious diseases and autoimmune diseases, although its exact mechanism of action is not yet known. The most common use for tetradecyl lactate is as an occlusive agent that prevents bacteria from entering the body through wounds or skin lesions. Tetradecyl lactate can also be used as a water vapor absorber and film-forming polymer.
