1,2,3,4-Tetrahydronaphthalene-1-carbonitrile is an organic compound with a molecular formula of C10H8N2. It is a colorless solid that has been used medicinally to treat cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension and angina pectoris. The molecule contains nitrogen atoms, hydrocarbon groups, benzyl groups, and nitro groups. It is soluble in water and has an alkoxycarbonyl group that can be oxidized to form a hydroxyl group or reduced to form an alkyl substituent. 1,2,3,4-Tetrahydronaphthalene-1-carbonitrile also contains a trifluoromethyl group that can be substituted by other alkyl groups.
