Tantalum oxide is a solid oxide of tantalum that is used in the manufacture of high-temperature resistant parts for use in aerospace and chemical processing industries. Tantalum oxide is also used as a material for analytical methods, such as x-ray absorption or ft-ir spectroscopy. Tantalum oxide has been shown to be an effective catalyst for plasma mass spectrometry. It has a high resistance to thermal expansion, making it especially suitable for high-temperature applications. Tantalum oxide has been shown to have a crystalline structure with nitrogen impurities, which can affect its morphology.
