Descrizione

Temocaprilat is a long-acting, orally active angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor that is used for the treatment of congestive heart failure and hypertension. It has been shown to reduce fatty acid levels in the blood and inhibit energy metabolism. Temocaprilat also inhibits the transcription of genes involved in lipid synthesis by competing with ATP as a substrate for RNA polymerase II. It is metabolized to temocapril, its active form, which binds to plasma proteins such as albumin and α1-acid glycoprotein. This drug can lead to drug interactions with other drugs such as pravastatin because it can increase the concentration of pravastatin in human serum.
