2,3,4-Trihydroxybenzylhydrazine is a hydroxylase inhibitor that acts on the enzyme catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT). The enzyme COMT is involved in the degradation of dopamine and other neurotransmitters. This drug inhibits the activity of COMT and prevents dopamine degradation, which may lead to an increase in its concentration. 2,3,4-Trihydroxybenzylhydrazine has been shown to be effective in chronic treatment of cancer and autoimmune diseases. It also has a potential role in pharmacological treatment for Parkinson's disease.
