Thiophene-2-carbonitrile is a compound that forms tautomers, which are structural isomers. The absorption of UV light by tautomers is measured using the sodium carbonate reaction solution and UV spectroscopy. The activation energies for the formation of the different tautomers were determined using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. This compound has reactive properties that can be seen in its reaction mechanism with palladium-catalyzed coupling and photochemical properties. Thiophene-2-carbonitrile has potent inhibitory activity against phagocytic cells, as well as transport properties that can be seen in its kinetic data.
