N,N,N',N'-Tetraglycidyl-4,4'-diaminodiphenyl ether is a difunctional epoxy resin that is used for the synthesis of polycarbonate and polyurethane. It has excellent thermal stability with a transition temperature of about 190°C. This product is currently being tested for use in the production of polycarbonate. N,N,N',N'-Tetraglycidyl-4,4'-diaminodiphenyl ether is synthesized by reacting 4-aminophenol with 1,2-epoxybutane to form an epoxide ring. The two molecules are then reacted together and crosslinked to form a polymer chain. This process produces a linear polymer that contains repeating amine groups and epoxy groups on each end of the chain. This product exhibits good viscoelasticity and can be used as an additive in both liquid and solid materials.
