Tetrabutylammonium azide is a chemical compound that inhibits the activity of enzymes. It binds to copper ions and other metal ions, forming a complex with them. This inhibits the enzyme's ability to catalyze reactions in biological systems, such as those that produce malonic acid and reactive oxygen species (ROS). The inhibition of the enzyme's activity by this compound prevents oxidative damage to cells in biological samples and reduces autoimmune responses. Tetrabutylammonium azide has also been shown to be an efficient inhibitor for many different enzymes, including those involved in the body's immune system.
