L-Threonine methylamide is a low yield analog of the amino acid L-threonine. It is synthesized by the reaction of L-threonine and methyl amine, which produces an amide bond between the two molecules. L-Threonine methylamide can be used to produce primary amines that are useful in the production of cyclopropylamines and other pharmaceuticals. This compound can also be used as a precursor for α-amino acids such as proline, which are required in the synthesis of proteins.
