2-(2H-Tetrazol-5-yl)pyridine (2HTZP) is a copper complex that is used as ancillary ligands in coordination chemistry. The nitrogen atoms are coordinated to the copper atoms, and the luminescent probe can be attached to the oxadiazole ring. 2HTZP has been used to study the structure of oxadiazole and picolinic acid in solution and in solid state, as well as fatty acids. 2HTZP has also been used for immobilization of metal ions on silica gels, where it served as a substrate for x-ray crystal structures. In addition, 2HTZP has been shown to have photophysical properties that allow it to be used as a sensor for picolinic acid and fatty acids.
