(R,S),-1,2,3,4-Tetrahydro-3-isoquinolinecarboxylic acid is a δ opioid receptor agonist. It has been shown to stimulate muscle and heart tissue in rats. The concentration-response curves for antimicrobial peptides were found to be shifted to the right when this compound was used as an antagonist. (R,S),-1,2,3,4-Tetrahydro-3-isoquinolinecarboxylic acid also showed low energy hydrogen bonds with intramolecular hydrogen. This solid phase synthesis has been used to create a tetrapeptide that can bind to the oxytocin receptor.
