Triethyl(trifluoromethyl)silane is a functional group that has an organic solvent and a hydroxyl group. It reacts with hydrogen fluoride to produce trifluoromethylsulfonic acid and ethoxyethane. Triethyl(trifluoromethyl)silane has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, which is due to its ability to inhibit the production of hydroxyprostaglandins. Triethyl(trifluoromethyl)silane is used as a control agent in organic reactions, such as those involving amines or terminal alkynes.
